How do I feel?

Such mixed emotions this past week, after our unexpected loss to BYU in the 2nd round of the WNIT:
  • Surprise – how could Stanford lose to a lower-ranked team at home?
  • Stunned – at Hall’s clutch 3-pointer, and our failure to do anything in the clutch,
  • Confused – I thought we were supposed to be a lot bigger than BYU,
  • Mad – at the PA announcement regarding tickets for the WNIT finals on Sunday, before the game was over,
  • Sad – at the physicality of the game,
  • Tired – I don’t sleep well when Stanford loses,
  • Glum – a loss ruins the whole week,
  • Glad – that it is early in the season,
  • Happy – I didn’t need to consider travel to Waco,
  • Curious – how practice went the rest of the week.
But, it doesn’t matter how I feel. It does matter how the players feel:
  • I hope they aren’t devastated,
  • I hope they are devastated.

As this season unfolds we are going to win some games, and we may lose a game or two, but I won’t lose faith in our coaches and our players. Remember, at this time last year, we lost to Minnesota, and we still had a great season. This one will be too.
