Happy New Year

My friend Randy sent a card this holiday that said:
Remember to treasure family and friends who are near, hold dear those who are far away, and bless those who are no longer with us.
Even though it isn’t “Thanksgiving,” I feel very thankful this holiday. I have good health, a good life, and many dear, supportive friends. Some of us lost a family member or close friend this year; such pain prompts me to appreciate more those who are still an active part of my life.
This fall I had the inside of my house repainted. This hadn’t been done for 20 years—when the remodel was completed. Having the house painted forced me to go through many stacks—letters, pictures, cards—memories, memories, memories. I feel so blessed that I’ve had such warm contact and support from so many throughout my life, and especially the last 10 years. And most of the latter are you, my basketball friends. Thank you.
What will 2008 bring? Among other resolutions, I’m going to heed Vanessa’s advice to “step up my game.” I think it’s good to “give back” — support the team and people who have given me such pleasure. This will be a great season.
